Sebuah Pandangan Keberadaan Lembaga Seni di Tengah Masyarakat

Keberadaaan ISI Padangpanjang sangat menetukan perkembangan kebudayaan melayu. Menjadi tanggung jawab ISI Padangpanjang dalam terus mengembangkan serta membina melalui penelitian, pengabdian dan mahasiswa yang telah diciptakan.

Sebagai lembaga pendidikan tinggi yang bergerak dibidang kesenian, ISI Padangpanjang menjadi salah satu benteng utama dalam perkembangan kebudayaan melayu, keberadaan ISI Padangpanjang dapat dilihat dari berbagai kegiatan yang dimaksudkan untuk melestarikan warisan budaya lokal sebagai jati diri bangsa.

Sejarah telah mencatat, perkembangan ISI Padangpanjang dengan umur yang hampir 51 tahun dengan awal berdirinya Kokar A dan Kokar B yang kemudian berkembang menjadi Akademi Seni Karawitan Indonesia (ASKI) dan terus berubah kembali menjadi Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia (STSI) yang telah menciptakan insan-insan yang berkompeten dalam pengembangan kebudayaan melayu khususnya kesenian.

Gagasan ilmiah pokok tentang pengembangan kebudayaan melayu yang dicanangkan oleh Prof. Mursal Esten selaku Direktur ASKI beberapa tahun silam menjadi batu loncatan bagi ISI saat ini dalam mengemban tanggung jawab yang sangat besar untuk kemuslahatan masyarakat di era globalisasi yang kuat akan pengaruh kebudayaan luar terutama dalam pengembangan kesenian.

Sebagai perguruan tinggi seni yang menciptakan ilmuan seni dan seniman berlandaskan budaya melayu, peran alumni-alumni ISI dalam berbagai iven yang bersifat nasional, dan internasional menjadi ujung tombak dalam kegiatan-kegiatan tersebut menjadi bukti nyata keberadaan ISI. Seperti contoh sebagai pemateri, pelopor kegiatan, dan pelaksana kegiatan dan tentunya memiliki andil besar dalam pengembangan kebudayaan.

Berbicara tentang ISI, tentu ingatan kita tidak akan terlepas dari sebuah seni pertunjukan dan Seni rupa. Penciptaan karya-karya seni tersebut tentu juga tidak akan terlepas dengan filosofi-filosofi tentang kebudayaan melayu itu sendiri. Telah ratusan kajian dan ciptaan dari mahasiswa ISI yang telah dipublikasikan kepada masyarakat yang tentunya sebagai landasan pengembangan kesenian itu sendiri.

Testimoni ISI sebagai benteng terakhir pengembangan kebudayaan khususnya melayu di Sumatera yang sering diucapkan oleh Rektor ISI Padangpanjang Prof. Dr. Novesar Jamarun, MS dalam berbagai sambutan kegiatan seolah menjadi cambuk bagi masyarakat diluar ISI untuk terus berjuang bersama dalam menjaga nilai-nilai budaya yang ada di Sumatera.

Terhitung pada tahun 2016 ini, berbagai iven-iven dan kunjungan diplomatik telah dibangun ISI dengan beberapa negara tetangga seperti Thailand, Filiphina, Malaysia, Australia dan terakhir dilakukan di Jepang. Tidak lain maksud dari kegiatan ini adalah mempromosikan kebudayaan melayu khususnya Minangkabau ke negara luar Indonesia.

Inventarisasi, revitalisasi, dan explorisasi kesenian Kekayaan warisan budaya dan nilai-nilai kearifan lokal yang berkembang secara turun-temurun merupakan sumber yang sangat kaya dan ini merupakan modal dasar dalam pembentukan jati diri dan karakter bangsa. Untuk itu diperlukan inventarisasi dan revitalisasi nilai-nilai kearifan lokal tersebut dengan cara menghidupkan kembali dan menempatkannya di dalam kontek sekarang atau explorasi yang berlandaskan nilai-nilai dan filosofi-filosofi agar kebudayaan khusunya kesenian tidak habis dimakan waktu.

Peran ISI terhadap kebudayaan

melayu khususnya kesenian, tentu saja tidak lepas dari bagaimana menggali kesenian, membina kesenian, dan mengembangkan kesenian itu sendiri. Kajian-kajian dan ciptaan karya seni hadir sebagai bentuk baru dalam menterjemahkan kearifan budaya lokal.

Hadirnya Prodi Televisi dan Film, Prodi Fotografi dan Prodi Desain Komunikasi Visual di ISI tentu saja akan menambah khasanah pengarsipkan tentang kebudayaan melayu khususnya Minangkabau, dan tentu saja dalam penciptakaan karyanya mengacu terhadap visi dan misi lembaga sebagai lembaga yang mempersiapakan diri untuk kebudayaan melayu berjaya pada tahu 2030.

Saat ini, ISI Padangpanjang telah mencoba menginventarisasi, merevitalisasi dan mengeksplorisasi kesenian yang berakar terhadap kearifan lokal menjadi produk yang siap diterima oleh masyarakat tanpa meninggalkan nilai-nilai dan esensi kerifan lokal itu sendiri. Dengan peran ISI sebagai lembaga pendidikan tinggi yang bergerak di bidang kesenian tentu juga dapat diharapkan menjadi pusat kajian kebudayaan khususnya melayu di Sumatera dalam bidang kesenian dan warisan budaya lainnya.(***)
